Exercise programs are customarily given by Physical Therapists (PT) in either an inpatient or outpatient setting. Outpatient PT is typically augmented with a Home exercise Program (HEP) which is meant to enhance the work that is done directly with the PT. Since the amount of exercise done at home is often greater than what is done with the PT, the HEP is of great importance.\n\nHowever, the types of exercise that are the most useful for useful for persons with MS has not been established. Previous research has shown that due to the unique ways in which MS can affect the nervous system, exercise programs that may be appropriate for persons without MS may not be ideal for those that have the disease",[28,34],{"label":29,"type":30,"description":31,"interventionNames":32},"Individualized Task Specific Physical Therapy Home Exercise Program","EXPERIMENTAL","Physical Therapy Home Exercise program based on specific outcome measure findings.",[33],"Behavioral: Task Specific Physical Therapy Home Program",{"label":35,"type":36,"description":37,"interventionNames":38},"Generic physical therapy home exercise program","ACTIVE_COMPARATOR","Generalized fitness-based exercise program",[33],[40],{"type":41,"name":42,"description":43,"armGroupLabels":44,"otherNames":19},"BEHAVIORAL","Task Specific Physical Therapy Home Program","Home exercise program based on specific findings from physical therapy evaluations.",[35,29],[46],{"facility":5,"status":47,"city":48,"state":49,"zip":50,"country":51,"countryCode":52,"cosmosGeoPoint":53,"geoPoint":58,"contacts":59},"RECRUITING","Brooklyn","New York","11215","United States","US",{"type":54,"coordinates":55},"Point",[56,57],-73.94958,40.6501,{"lat":57,"lon":56},[60,65,69],{"name":61,"role":62,"phone":63,"phoneExt":19,"email":64},"Pearlia Fullard","CONTACT","718-780-5584","pcfullar@nyp.org",{"name":66,"role":62,"phone":67,"phoneExt":19,"email":68},"Joy J Rutherford, BS","718-780-7715","jor9147@nyp.org",{"name":70,"role":71,"phone":19,"phoneExt":19,"email":19},"Karen Blitz-Shabbir, DO","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",{"type":71,"investigatorFullName":73,"investigatorTitle":74,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":19,"oldOrganization":19},"Karen Blitz-Shabbir","Neurologist","100553440",false,"NCT06486116","Effectiveness of Task Specific Home Exercise Program","Inclusion Criteria:\n\nDefinitive diagnosis of Multiple sclerosis\n\n* Ability to walk for at least 30 seconds unassisted with or without assistive device\n* Ability to read, comprehend and sign an informed consent\n* Is able to attend a 2 outpatient evaluation sessions 6 weeks apart\n* Between the ages of 18 and 75\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Evidence of recent MS exacerbation\n\n * Any orthopedic, cardiopulmonary, or non- MS neurologic condition that prohibits participation in a Physical therapy program\n * Be currently receiving outpatient physical therapy",true,"ALL","18 Years","65 Years",{"count":85,"type":86},30,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[89],"NA","The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of 2 different types of Home Exercise Programs (HEP) on mobility in persons with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
