After informed consent (from next of kin when applicable) baseline blood samples are drawn from existing catheter and the subject is given a bolus dose of 20umol\u002Fkg 13C-labeled lactate in 20 ml isotonic saline. After this a total of 14 blood samples á 2 ml is drawn in the following 120 minutes. All blood samples are centrifuged and stored in -800 C until analysis. After all subjects have been included sampled are thawed and analyzed for content of endogenous and labeled lactate. Through analysis between their relationship the lactate production and consumption can be quantified.",[26],{"label":27,"type":28,"description":29,"interventionNames":30},"All patients","EXPERIMENTAL","All patients receive the same intervention\u002Fsampling protocol",[31],"Other: Isotopically labeled lactate",[33],{"type":6,"name":34,"description":35,"armGroupLabels":36,"otherNames":17},"Isotopically labeled lactate","A bolus dose of isotopically labeled lactate is given and blood samples from existing catheters are drawn",[27],[38,43],{"name":39,"role":40,"phone":41,"phoneExt":17,"email":42},"Jonathan Grip, MD, PhD","CONTACT","+46736230906","jonathan.grip@regionstockholm.se",{"name":44,"role":40,"phone":17,"phoneExt":17,"email":45},"Olav Rooyackers, Professor","olav.rooyackers@ki.se",[47],{"facility":5,"status":48,"city":49,"state":50,"zip":51,"country":52,"countryCode":53,"cosmosGeoPoint":54,"geoPoint":59,"contacts":60},"RECRUITING","Stockholm","Stockholm County","14186","Sweden","SE",{"type":55,"coordinates":56},"Point",[57,58],18.06871,59.32938,{"lat":58,"lon":57},[61,63],{"name":39,"role":40,"phone":62,"phoneExt":17,"email":42},"+46 73 623 09 06",{"name":64,"role":40,"phone":65,"phoneExt":17,"email":17},"Christian Ahlstedt, MD","+4670 729 3514",{"type":67,"investigatorFullName":68,"investigatorTitle":69,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":17,"oldOrganization":17},"PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR","Jonathan Grip","Principal Investigator, PhD",[71,74,76],{"name":72,"class":73},"Region Stockholm","OTHER_GOV",{"name":75,"class":6},"European Society of Intensive Care Medicine",{"name":77,"class":78},"The Scandinavian Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (SSAI)","UNKNOWN","100466103",false,"NCT05349370","Lactate Kinetics in Septic Shock","Lactate Kinetics in Patients Treated for Septic Shock","LKISS","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Sepsis\n* Age \\>17 years\n* Arterial catheter\n* Lactate \\> 2 mmol at any time point prior to inclusion\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Mitochondrial defect\n* Degenerative muscle disease\n* Terminal liver failure","ALL","18 Years",{"count":89,"type":90},60,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[19],"Lactate kinetics will be studied in hospitalized septic patients using a bolus injection of stable isotopically labeled lactate.",[95,96],"Sepsis","Septic Shock","2025-05-20",{"date":99,"type":100},"2025-05-23","ACTUAL",{"date":102,"type":100},"2022-12-28",{"date":104,"type":90},"2026-12-31",{"name":5,"class":6},1]
