The gathered samples are divided in half to undergo routine culture for microbial growth and nanopore sequencing with the MinION Mk1b, a commercially available device for DNA\u002FRNA sequencing. Base reads from Nanopore sequencing are then compared with available libraries for pathogen identification. The Nanopore sequencing results for pathogens are compared versus the results of the microbiological culture of the same eye as the gold standard. Clinical features and visual function before and after vitrectomy are gathered from patient charts. Treatment is not altered due to results of the Nanopore sequencing.","Eyes of adult patients with endophthalmitis",[29,34],{"name":30,"role":31,"phone":32,"phoneExt":22,"email":33},"Michael Sommer, MD","CONTACT","004331638531033","michael.sommer@medunigraz.at",{"name":35,"role":31,"phone":36,"phoneExt":22,"email":37},"Gerald Seidel, MD, PhD","004331638580714","gerald.seidel@medunigraz.at",[39],{"facility":40,"status":41,"city":42,"state":43,"zip":44,"country":45,"countryCode":46,"cosmosGeoPoint":47,"geoPoint":52,"contacts":53},"Universitäts Augenklinik Graz","RECRUITING","Graz","Styria","8036","Austria","AT",{"type":48,"coordinates":49},"Point",[50,51],15.44197,47.06733,{"lat":51,"lon":50},[54,55],{"name":30,"role":31,"phone":32,"phoneExt":22,"email":33},{"name":35,"role":31,"phone":36,"phoneExt":22,"email":37},{"type":57,"investigatorFullName":22,"investigatorTitle":22,"investigatorAffiliation":22,"oldNameTitle":22,"oldOrganization":22},"SPONSOR","100467906",false,"NCT05372861","Nanopore Sequencing in Ophthalmology","Nanopore Sequencing in Ophthalmology - a Paradigm Shift in Pathogen Determination?","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Eyes of patients with endophthalmitis\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* No informed consent possible\n* Participation in other studies","ALL","18 Years","99 Years",{"count":68,"type":69},20,"ESTIMATED","OBSERVATIONAL","In this pilot study, the feasibility of the Oxford Nanopore MinION to identify pathogens from vitrectomy samples in eyes with endophthalmitis shall be assessed.
