Contraindications include patients who are currently on unfractionated heparin, low molecular weight heparin, heparin derivatives (examples: fondaparinux), or other direct oral anticoagulants (examples: dabigatran, edoxaban, rivaroxaban), who are either unable or unable to discontinue these agents in favor of the investigational drug.
