The proximal location of the osteotomy avoids devascularization of the metatarsal head, and the crescent shape maintains the length of the metatarsal. It allows a high degree of correction at the intermetatarsal angle in severe deformities.\n\nWhen the condition is associated with an increased intermetatarsal angle, a surgical technique using a proximal first metatarsal osteotomy is often indicated. A proximal opening wedge osteotomy stabilized with a wedge and plate configuration offers a stable, reliable means to correct the increased intermetatarsal angle.\n\nOver the past 10 years, some surgeons have increasingly used locking plates instead of a single screw for stabilisation of the osteotomy with the assumption of better postoperative stability and preserved length of the first metatarsal. In addition, fixation with a plate has been described as technically less challenging.","All patient above 15 years old",[25],{"name":26,"affiliation":5,"role":27},"Abdulrahman M Hussein Mohamed","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",[29],{"name":30,"role":31,"phone":32,"phoneExt":18,"email":33},"Abdulrahman M Hussein Mohamed, Master","CONTACT","+2001063555610","Abd-Elrahman.20134151@med.aun.edu.eg",{"type":27,"investigatorFullName":35,"investigatorTitle":36,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":18,"oldOrganization":18},"Abdulrahman Mahdi Hussein Mohamed","Resident","100561002",false,"NCT06584487","Proximal Metatarsal Osteotomy in Correction of Hallux Valgus","Proximal Metatarsal Medial Opening Wedge Osteotomy Fixed by Plate and Screws in Correction of Hallux Valgus","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* all admitted patients to Assiut University Hospitals.\n* age group of 15 years old and above.\n* Moderate and severe degrees of hallux valgus.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Burn\n* age group below 15 years old.\n* patient who refuse to participate in the study.",true,"ALL","15 Years",{"count":47,"type":48},15,"ESTIMATED","OBSERVATIONAL","The outcomes of the correction of hallux valgus by proximal opening wedge osteotomy",[52],"Hallux Valgus and Bunion",[54,55,56],"Proximal Osteotomy","Medial Opening Wedge","Hallux Valgus","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2024-09-03",{"date":60,"type":61},"2024-09-04","ACTUAL",{"date":63,"type":48},"2024-10-10",{"date":65,"type":48},"2025-10",{"name":5,"class":6}]
