This insight may have potential clinical implications for addiction, pain, and mental health populations. Participants will receive MRI and CT imaging. Participants receive low-intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU) to temporarily change brain activity. Participants then receive fMRI scans to measure changes in both resting and heat evoked brain signaling using a quantitative sensory testing device. Heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and skin moisture is monitored. Participants complete a battery of questionnaires, both behavioral and symptom monitoring. The study takes place over 4 study visits.",[30],{"label":31,"type":32,"description":33,"interventionNames":34},"LIFU, heat evoked fMRI signals","EXPERIMENTAL","fMRI resting and heat evoked signals performed after LIFU application to known brain region of interest or active sham region (within participant all conditions tested).",[35],"Other: Neuromodulation with low-intensity focused ultrasound",[37],{"type":6,"name":38,"description":39,"armGroupLabels":40,"otherNames":24},"Neuromodulation with low-intensity focused ultrasound","Application of LIFU to induce temporary neuromodulation, effects tested with resting state and heat evoked (QST) fMRI signals",[31],[42],{"name":43,"role":44,"phone":45,"phoneExt":24,"email":46},"Jessica W Florig, MPH","CONTACT","540-526-2261","legonlab@vtc.vt.edu",[48],{"facility":49,"status":50,"city":51,"state":52,"zip":53,"country":54,"countryCode":55,"cosmosGeoPoint":56,"geoPoint":61,"contacts":62},"Fralin Biomedical Research Institute","RECRUITING","Roanoke","Virginia","24016","United States","US",{"type":57,"coordinates":58},"Point",[59,60],-79.94143,37.27097,{"lat":60,"lon":59},[63],{"name":64,"role":44,"phone":65,"phoneExt":24,"email":46},"Jessica Florig, MPH","5405262375",{"type":67,"investigatorFullName":68,"investigatorTitle":69,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":24,"oldOrganization":24},"PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR","Wynn Legon","Assistant Professor","100462572",false,"NCT05303415","Study of Low-intensity Focused Ultrasound Effects on Heat Evoked fMRI Signals","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Healthy volunteers, all ethnicities, who understand and speak English.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\nClaustrophobia (scanning environment may be uncomfortable).
