Then, patients will be randomized to one of two groups; (group I: tube advancement in neutral \u002F group II: tube advancement with the tube counter-clockwise rotated). After induction of anesthesia and muscle relaxation, the preformed nasal RAE (Ring-Adair-Elwyn) tube will be inserted via a nostril approximately 3-4 cm. Next, an anesthesiologist will advance the tube, with it neutral, continuously into the oral cavity of the patients in Group I, while the anesthesiologist will advance the tube, with it rotated counter-clockwise in 90 degree, into the oral cavity of the patients in Group II. After the tube will be placed in the oral cavity, the anesthesiologist will perform nasotracheal intubation with Magill forceps. After that, an investigator will check occurrence of epistaxis due to nasotracheal intubation and its severity with a fiberoptic bronchoscope. After obtainment of all data, investigators will analyze incidence of epistaxis and its severity between two groups.",[30,36],{"label":31,"type":32,"description":33,"interventionNames":34},"Rotation","EXPERIMENTAL","For nasotracheal intubation, the nasal RAE tube will be inserted with it rotated by 90 degrees in counter-clockwise direction for patients in the 'Rotation' arm.",[35],"Procedure: nasotracheal intubation",{"label":37,"type":38,"description":39,"interventionNames":40},"Neutral","ACTIVE_COMPARATOR","For nasotracheal intubation, the nasal RAE tube will be inserted without tube rotation for patients in the 'Neutral' arm.",[35],[42],{"type":43,"name":44,"description":45,"armGroupLabels":46,"otherNames":18},"PROCEDURE","nasotracheal intubation","For nasotracheal intubation, the nasal RAE tube will be inserted with it rotated by 90 degrees in counter-clockwise direction for patients in the 'Rotation' arm.\n\nFor nasotracheal intubation, the nasal RAE tube will be inserted without tube rotation for patients in the 'Neutral' arm.",[37,31],[48],{"name":49,"role":50,"phone":51,"phoneExt":18,"email":52},"Jung-Man Lee, M.D., Ph.D.","CONTACT","+82-2-870-2513","jungman007@gmail.com",{"type":54,"investigatorFullName":18,"investigatorTitle":18,"investigatorAffiliation":18,"oldNameTitle":18,"oldOrganization":18},"SPONSOR",[56],{"name":57,"class":6},"SMG-SNU Boramae Medical Center","100563627",false,"NCT06618625","Tube Rotation for Tube Passage Into the Oral Cavity in Nasotracheal Intubation","The Effect of Tube Rotation on Passage of Tracheal Tube Through Nasopharynx Into the Oral Cavity in Nasotracheal Intubation","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* adult patients requiring nasotracheal intubation for elective surgery\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* refuse to participate in the study\n* severe deformity in nose\n* current severe epistaxis\n* limitation of neck extension","ALL","19 Years",{"count":67,"type":68},80,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[71],"NA","The purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of tube rotation on passage of the tracheal tube through the nasopharynx into the oral cavity in nasotracheal intubation.",[74],"Nasotracheal Intubation","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2024-09-26",{"date":78,"type":79},"2024-10-01","ACTUAL",{"date":81,"type":68},"2024-09-23",{"date":83,"type":68},"2025-09-22",{"name":5,"class":6}]
