A second aim is to explore through qualitative methods contextual factors that may explain the type, direction and nature of relationships identified in the quantitative phase.\n\nThis research will be conducted in multiple phases to maximise recruitment.\n\n1. Phase 1 consists of a battery of in-person physical functioning tests.\n2. Phase 2 consists of an online survey of validated questionnaires.\n3. Phase 3 consists of online or in-person interviews with CYP\n\nParticipants recruited through NHS Scotland will take part in all 3 phases. Only Phase 2 (online survey) will additionally be disseminated through patient organisations across the UK to maximise recruitment.\n\nIn phase 1, participants will take part in a battery of physical activity functioning assessments including multistage bleep tests, sit-up tests, and handgrip tests. Participants will also be given an accelerometer measure to track movements over 7 days. Participants taking part in this phase will also complete the phase 2 online survey which includes a physical activity, Quality of life, Fatigue, Strength and Difficulties, and Mental health questionnaire.\n\nIn phase 3, participants from phase 1 will return and take part in an interview to gain deeper insights into psychosocial influences and limitations in engaging in physical activity as well as gaining a better understanding of the impact of CKD on psychosocial wellbeing.",[52],{"label":53,"type":6,"description":44,"interventionNames":54},"Physcial Activity Exercises",[55],"Behavioral: Exercise",[57],{"type":58,"name":59,"description":60,"armGroupLabels":61,"otherNames":62},"BEHAVIORAL","Exercise","Physical activity promotion and engagement",[53],[63],"Quality of life",[65,70],{"name":66,"role":67,"phone":68,"phoneExt":44,"email":69},"Silene ten Seldam","CONTACT","+447341596914","silenetenseldam@yahoo.co.uk",{"name":71,"role":67,"phone":72,"phoneExt":44,"email":73},"Pelagia Koufaki, PhD","+441314740000","pkoufaki@qmu.ac.uk",[75],{"facility":76,"status":44,"city":77,"state":44,"zip":44,"country":78,"countryCode":79,"cosmosGeoPoint":80,"geoPoint":85,"contacts":86},"Glasgow Royal Hospital for Children","Glasgow","United Kingdom","UK",{"type":81,"coordinates":82},"Point",[83,84],-4.25763,55.86515,{"lat":84,"lon":83},[87],{"name":88,"role":67,"phone":44,"phoneExt":44,"email":44},"Reynolds",{"type":90,"investigatorFullName":71,"investigatorTitle":91,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":44,"oldOrganization":44},"PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR","Reader in Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation Sciences","100568115",false,"NCT06677021","Understanding Physical Activity and Quality of Life in Children and Young People with Chronic Kidney Disease","Evaluation of Physical Activity Behaviours, and Psychosocial Health Outcomes in Children and Young People with Chronic Kidney Disease","PA-QOL-CKD","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* CYP of school age between 6 and 18 years\n* Living and receiving care in Scotland for CKD\n* no clinical contradictions to physical function assessments\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Enrolment in other clinical trials in which treatment is masked\u002Fblinded\n* Deemed to be clinically unstable by treating physician for participating in physical activity and exercise\n* Severe cognitive impairment (as will be unable to give consent)\n* Aged \\\u003C6 or \\>18 years.","ALL","6 Years","18 Years",{"count":103,"type":104},20,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[46],"Children and young people (CYP) with chronic kidney disease (CKD) say that physical activity, school, social activities and tiredness are the main issues they want to improve.
