PREdiabetes GLycemic Impact and Data Evaluation

This prospective, randomized controlled trial evaluates whether real-time continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) improves glycemic control and lifestyle adherence in adults with prediabetes compared to conventional self-monitoring methods over a 3-month period. The GRoceries Aimed at Increasing Nutrition Study

Only 2% of Americans meet the recommended levels of whole grain consumption, despite its association with reduced risk of type 2 diabetes. This study aims to assess if consumers with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes can be encouraged to switch from buying refined grain products to whole grain products when shopping for groceries online. The study will use personalized marketing strategies, with or without discounts which adjust based on purchasing behavior, to promote whole grain consumption.

The Impact of Continuous Glucose Monitoring on Glucose Variability and Weight Loss in Individuals With Prediabetes and Obesity

This randomized, crossover interventional study evaluates the effects of real-time (open) versus blinded continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) on glycemic variability, lifestyle behaviors, and metabolic outcomes in adults with prediabetes and overweight or obesity (BMI ≥ 27 kg/m²). Thirty participants will undergo both open and blinded CGM phases, separated by a washout period. The study aims to assess whether access to real-time glucose data promotes behavioral change and improves metabolic health compared with blinded CGM use.

Diabetes Prevention by Group Intervention and CGM Use in Pre-diabetic Adults

This study is being done to find better ways to help people with prediabetes prevent or delay the development of type 2 diabetes. Prediabetes means your blood sugar is higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed with diabetes. It is often silent, but without changes in diet and activity, many people progress to a diagnosis of diabetes within a few years. The study combines two strategies: 1. Group visits - small, regular meetings where patients learn about healthy eating, physical activity, and stress management. 2. Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) - small wearable sensors that measure blood sugar all day and show how food, movement, and sleep affect it in real time. By bringing these two tools together, the research hopes to help participants better understand their own bodies and make lasting lifestyle changes. What is the purpose of this research? The purpose of this research is to find out whether using a CGM device together with group sessions can help people with prediabetes lower their average blood sugar (measured by A1C) and improve confidence in managing their health.

Prediabetes is a metabolic condition associated with increased risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Intermittent fasting (IF) has emerged as a potential dietary intervention to improve metabolic health, yet comparative evidence among different IF patterns remains limited. This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effects of three intermittent fasting regimens-5:2 fasting, alternate-day fasting, and time-restricted feeding-compared with a control diet on metabolic parameters, inflammatory markers, body composition, and nutrigenomic profiles in adults with prediabetes.

Targeted Precision Nutrition Strategy To Prevent Chronic Metabolic Diseases

Nutrition is very important to keep blood sugar levels balanced. If blood sugar levels are too high, it can lead to diseases such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Therefore, adjusting what one eats, also called a diet or nutritional intervention, can help prevent these diseases. However, not everyone responds the same to a diet. In about 30% of people, a diet does not work as hoped. This can be due to various reasons, such as a person's metabolism, genetic predisposition, the composition of the food one eats, or the bacteria in the intestines. Everyday things like sleep, stress, and movement also play a role. The investigators used a computer model to classify people with overweight and obesity into groups based on these factors. The investigators call such a group a 'Metabolic Phenotype', or in short 'Metabotype'. Based on the Metabotype, a personalised diet was developed (personalised nutrition intervention) that may better suit each person's unique situation. The investigators hypothesize that a precision nutrition intervention, tailored to Metabotypes identified through unsupervised clustering (using the aforementioned computer model) of predefined, accurate features related to cardiometabolic health-specifically, tissue-specific glucose and lipid metabolism and detailed body composition-will enhance blood glucose homeostasis, reduce cardiometabolic risk, and improve adherence to the intervention and mental well-being, compared to population-based dietary guidelines. The present project will contribute to targeted and efficient precision-based dietary strategies for individuals at increased risk of T2DM.

Xinqiao High-risk Cohort of Diabetes(NICE)

Objective: 1. To systematically screen the high-risk population of diabetes in Xinqiao area, understand the characteristics of early glucose metabolism changes and pancreatic islet function changes in the high-risk population and patients with prediabetes, and establish the first standardized research cohort of high-risk patients and prediabetes patients in Songjiang area. 2\. Use CGM monitoring technology to identify the high-risk groups of diabetes and the fluctuation of blood glucose in pre-diabetes, understand their ophthalmology and bone density, observe the annual conversion rate of diabetes, find effective interventions, move forward the management of diabetes, and create a new model for the management of high-risk groups of diabetes. Research content: Part I: Establishing the first standardized diabetes high-risk population research cohort in Songjiang area The initiative focuses on early screening for high-risk populations with diabetes, shifting the focus downward and advancing prevention measures to detect diabetes at an earlier stage and initiate timely intervention. In Xinqiao District, all high-risk screening cases will undergo medical history documentation, anthropometric measurements, laboratory testing, and regular follow-ups. Standard oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) methods will be employed to assess fasting blood glucose levels, insulin sensitivity, 2-hour postprandial glucose and insulin levels after a 75g glucose load, and glycated hemoglobin levels. Beyond evaluating glucose metabolism, the screening will also detect other metabolic disorders through routine blood tests including urinalysis, liver/kidney function tests, uric acid levels, lipid profiles, thyroid function, and urine protein/creatinine ratio. The establishment of this premium high-risk screening program in Xinqiao Community will create Songjiang District's first standardized research cohort for diabetes mellitus (DM) and prediabetes patients, carrying significant strategic importance. Part II: By integrating Clinical Monitoring (CGM) technology with ophthalmological evaluations and bone density ultrasound examinations, we identify characteristics of high-risk diabetic populations and track their disease progression. The CGM system (with auxiliary devices such as the Shansheng Dynamic Glucose Monitoring System) is utilized to monitor blood glucose fluctuations in these individuals. Concurrently, comprehensive ophthalmic assessments-including visual acuity tests, intraocular pressure measurements, fundus photography, OCT scans, OCTA imaging, and SLO examinations-are conducted alongside bone density testing. Annual follow-up evaluations are performed to track clinical outcomes.
